Quick answer: Times of India reports that Hisar police and the cyber cell have issued a warning about fake Cockroach Janata Party / CJP membership links circulating on WhatsApp and social media. Police said cybercriminals are using the movement’s popularity to push phishing links that may steal personal data, banking details, OTPs, passwords, and even lead to unauthorised withdrawals or fraudulent loans.

CJP membership is free.

If someone sends you a random link saying “Join Cockroach Janta Party,” do not click blindly.

The cockroach movement has gone viral. Now scammers are trying to crawl into the colony.

What Times of India reported

Times of India reported that the growing popularity of the satirical digital campaign Cockroach Janata Party has become a tool for cyber fraudsters. Hisar police and the cyber cell issued a public advisory warning people against fake membership links being circulated on social media platforms.

According to police officials quoted by TOI, cybercriminals are sharing misleading messages on WhatsApp and other platforms, asking users to click links to “Join Cockroach Janata Party” or become a member.

Police said these links are part of a phishing scam designed to steal sensitive personal and banking information.

How the fake membership scam works

The scam is simple because it copies the real energy of the movement.

People see CJP trending. They see friends posting badges, join forms, slogans, and “Main Bhi Cockroach” graphics. Then a fake link appears in a WhatsApp group saying:

“Click here to join Cockroach Janta Party.”

Once users click, the fake form may ask for personal details, banking information, OTPs, passwords, or app permissions. Police warned that such links may give hackers access to mobile phones, bank details, passwords, and personal data.

In some cases, victims reportedly suffered financial losses, unauthorised withdrawals, and even fraudulent loans taken in their names.

CJP membership is free

This is the most important rule:

CJP membership is free.

You do not need to pay anyone to join. You do not need to share bank details. You do not need to share OTPs. You do not need to download unknown apps. You do not need to verify your membership through a random WhatsApp link.

The optional digital badge or merchandise is separate. Free membership should never require banking access.

Red flags to watch for

Do not trust a CJP membership link if it:

  • comes from an unknown WhatsApp number,
  • asks for OTP, UPI PIN, bank details, card number, or password,
  • forces you to download an app,
  • claims membership is paid or time-limited,
  • uses misspelled domains or strange shortened links,
  • claims you will lose your “member number” unless you pay,
  • asks for Aadhaar, PAN, address proof, or private ID documents,
  • is not linked from the official CJP website.

Why scammers target CJP supporters

Scammers follow attention.

When CJP went viral, lakhs of young people started searching for join forms, badges, handles, posters, and membership pages. That created a perfect opening for cybercriminals.

They do not care about the movement. They care about the traffic.

Whenever a political or social movement grows fast, fake pages and phishing links appear. CJP is now large enough that scammers are trying to exploit the swarm.

What Hisar police advised

Times of India reported that Hisar Superintendent of Police Siddhant Jain appealed to the public, especially youngsters, to remain cautious while using social media.

Police advised people not to click unknown or suspicious links, not to download any unauthorised application, and not to fill out suspicious forms in the name of Cockroach Janata Party.

Police also urged citizens to report cyber fraud immediately to the National Cyber Helpline: 1930.

How to join safely

Use only the official CJP website or links clearly listed from verified CJP pages.

Before filling any form, check:

  • Is the domain correct?
  • Is the link coming from the official website?
  • Is it asking only for basic membership information?
  • Is it avoiding banking details, OTPs, passwords, Aadhaar and PAN?
  • Does it clearly say membership is free?

If the form asks for money, OTP, banking access, or app installation, close it immediately.

CJP should also respond clearly

CJP should treat this as an urgent safety issue.

The movement should publish a clear notice on the website and social pages:

  • CJP membership is free.
  • CJP never asks for OTPs or bank details.
  • CJP does not ask members to download unknown apps.
  • Only official website links should be trusted.
  • Fake links should be reported to cybercrime authorities.

This is not only about protecting money. It is about protecting trust.

Why this matters for the movement

When fake links spread, supporters get confused. Some people may lose money. Others may blame the movement. Fake membership scams can damage the credibility of CJP even if CJP had nothing to do with them.

That is why digital safety is now part of movement safety.

If the colony grows, the colony must also protect its members.

CJP’s reply

CJP’s reply should be simple:

Membership is free.

Do not share OTPs.

Do not share bank details.

Do not trust random WhatsApp links.

Do not download suspicious apps.

Join only from the official source.

The cockroach survives because it stays alert.

Source

This article is based on Times of India’s report titled “Alert issued over fake ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ membership links”, reported by Kumar Mukesh and published on 23 May 2026. TOI reported that Hisar police and the cyber cell warned against fake membership links being circulated on WhatsApp and social media, saying these phishing links could steal personal data, banking details, OTPs and passwords, and may lead to financial losses or fraudulent loans.

The cockroach record

First they mocked the movement.

Then they blocked the accounts.

Then they questioned the followers.

Now scammers are trying to steal from the swarm.

That is what happens when a movement grows fast: the crowd attracts both supporters and predators.

So remember this clearly:

Membership is free. OTP is never required. Bank details are never required. Suspicious links are not CJP.

The cockroach survives by sensing danger early.

Stay alert. Stay in the colony. Do not feed the scammers.
